These beautiful baskets have been a very popular item at the yarn-related events I attended over the last two years. They measure at least 18cms deep and at least 24cms in diameter. The handles are bound with cow hide to make them more comfortable to hold.
They can be used for tiny gifts, small craft projects, craft materials, soaps, and all manner of things.
They are made by hand by a group of weavers in Bolgatanga, Northern Ghana. The grasses used to weave them grow wild and are gathered, prepared and naturally dyed by members of the group, ready to be woven into a unique, biodegradable piece. The women deal with their finances themselves, so are treated fairly.
Every one is slightly different and will be supplied squashed (as it arrived from Ghana). They are easy to reshape following the instructions which will be included.
