These beautiful baskets are the most popular item at the yarn-related events I have attended over the last two years. They are at least 24cms deep and at least 36cms in diameter.
The handles are bound with cow hide to make them more comfortable to hold.
They can be used for gifts, small craft projects, craft materials, soaps, and all manner of things. They will be supplied squashed (as they arrived from Ghana); they are easy to reshape following the instructions which will be included.
The baskets are made by hand by a group of weavers in Bolgatanga, Northern Ghana. The grasses used to weave them grow wild and are gathered, prepared and naturally dyed by members of the group, ready to be woven into a unique, biodegradable piece. The women deal with their finances themselves, so are treated fairly.
