Medium U shoppers – turquoise

These beautiful and very useful shopping baskets are made by hand by the Puupeelum group of weavers in Bolgatanga, Northern Ghana.

The grasses used to weave these items grow wild and are gathered, prepared and naturally dyed by members of the group, ready to be woven into a unique, biodegradable piece.

The baskets are about 10″ deep and 16″ end to end. The handles are big enough to sit on the shoulder; some are bound with cow hide to make them more comfortable to hold and some have no leather, to make them suitable for vegans.

You can, of course, use these baskets for shopping, but also to hold craft projects, craft materials, blankets and all manner of things.
